Triumph

Triumph can trace it’s origins back to 1897 as the Triumph Cycle Company, importing bicycles to Britain from Europe. In 1902 they began manufacturing motor cycles and eventually car engines for other automotive manufacturers. In 1930 The Triumph Motor company was born producing exclusive cars for the wealthy. The company experienced mixed fortunes and in 1944 was bought by Standard Motor Company, to form Standard Triumph. It was under this name that in 1953 the TR2 was produced, the first of a line of successful two-seat sports cars. The TR series would continue until 1981 surviving the takeover by Leyland Motors in 1960.
