Austin-Healey

Established in 1952 in a joint venture between Austin (BMC) and the renowned automotive engineer Donald Healey. Austin-Healey was probably best known for it’s “Big” Healey models which found success in racing including Le Mans, Sebring and international rallies, amongst others. However, in 1958 Austin-Healey launched a low cost model, priced at just £669 the Sprite MkI (Frogeye) was designed to be a successor to the pre-war sports cars. The Frogeye was manufactured at the MG factory in Abingdon, it’s success lead to the production of an MG version, the Midget. Production of these two ‘similar’ cars continued until 1971 when the Sprite MkIV ended production. The Midget remained in production until 1980.
