Mk2
Continuing the success of the Mk1, Mazda introduced the Mk2 to the world in 1998, whilst keeping essentially the same chassis but with extra bracing from the factory and with serious styling changes, one of which was ditching the much loved pop-up headlights in favour of fixed units. By the time 2001 came around, Mazda gave us the Mk2.5, the new revision had a redesigned front bumper, adding fog lights, a slightly different profile and projector headlamps, along with the option of VVT on the 1.8 model drastically increasing bottom end torque and helping bring the MX-5 into the 21st century.
